Choose

By Pastor Steve Kelly / Books /

Every single decision we make in life has the potential to influence our future for better or worse. We live in a culture that looks for excuses, seeks to place blame on others in our past, and continually adjusts its standards click here to find out more. But God says to each of us – “You choose, and it’s your choice.” It’s not your parents’ choice, it’s not your teachers’ choice, it’s not your pastors’ choice. Regardless of what may have happened or what they may have said or done; at this moment, in this hour, it’s your choice.

In Deuteronomy 30:19, God tells the Israelites, “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”

Sometimes, we find it hard to make the right choice. Our vision may be unclear and our motivation may fade, but the end of this verse highlights the importance of our choices. For just as your parents and teachers and pastors words and actions influenced you, your choices today influence your children and the generations to come. Finding the strength and courage to do something for yourself may not be enough, and it shouldn’t be. Looking beyond today by deciding to choose life and blessing requires seeing those that are yet to be.

What are some recent decisions you’ve made that might be compromising your future – and the generations to come? What are some recent decisions that you’ve made that bring life and blessing to the future generations? The most important decision you will ever make is the decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you haven’t yet, made that decision, do it today. He is the ultimate and only Life, and He is the true Blessing. I encourage you to make the decision to live for Him. You’ll be amazed at the clarity and blessing that comes, not just for you, but for the generations to come. Today is your day, it’s your choice. Choose Life.
